Volleyball Recap: Campbellsport Falls Despite Big Games from Smith Ava and Schwartz Gracie

Campbellsport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Laconia Spartans, falling 3-0. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

While Campbellsport ultimately came up short, they really made Laconia work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 26-24, 25-22.

Campbellsport's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Schwartz Gracie, who had four digs and four aces, and Smith Ava, who had seven digs and one assist.

Josie Basler had a dynamite game For Laconia., getting 15 digs and two aces. What's more, Basler posted three assists, the most she's had over her last 11 matchups.

Campbellsport's loss dropped their record down to 15-14. As for Laconia, they have been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Campbellsport will take on Kewaskum at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Laconia, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran on the 4th.
