Baseball Game Preview: Edna Cowboys vs. Rice Consolidated Raiders

Edna has gone 8-2 against Rice Consolidated recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Cowboys will challenge the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Edna and 12 for Rice Consolidated.

Edna's last matchup with Yoakum could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Thursday. The Cowboys lost 18-11 to the Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cowboys have suffered against the Bulldogs since March 25, 2022.

Riley Palacios made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with five RBI, one run, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Edna's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 2-1 (and 4-15 when he doesn't). Peyton McCarrel also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Rice Consolidated came up short against Columbus on Thursday, falling 7-1.

Rice Consolidated saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was OJ Johnson, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Edna's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Rice Consolidated, their loss dropped their record down to 9-16.

Edna came out on top in a nail-biter against Rice Consolidated in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Cowboys have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
