Basketball Recap: Haiden Evans' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Midtown over Pace Academy

If Midtown was feeling good fresh off their 74-49 takedown of Drew last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The matchup between Midtown and Pace Academy didn't end well, with Midtown falling 51-32. While losing is never fun, Midtown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while Pace Academy is ranked sixth).

Midtown's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Haiden Evans, who posted eight points. Another player making a difference was Cam Austin, who scored four points.

It was another big night for Eric Chatfield, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 16 points along with six assists and five rebounds for Pace Academy. The game was Chatfield's fifth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chandler Bing, who went 6-for-13 on his way to 14 points and five boards.

Midtown's loss dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Pace Academy, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 22-4.

Midtown didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-62 win against Jackson on the 14th. As for Pace Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 80-65 victory against Mays on the 14th.
