Last Monday, Denver East faced DSST: Conservatory Green in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Denver East took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 79-33 victory over DSST: Conservatory Green. The win was just business as usual for Denver East, who after four games remain undefeated this season.
Denver East's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but James Murray led the charge by scoring 15 points. Another player making a difference was Maurice Fulcher, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 15 more assists than your opponent, a fact Overland proved on Friday. They claimed a resounding 77-30 win over Aurora Central at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-15.
Isreal Littleton was the offensive standout of the match as he dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Siraaj Ali, who scored 11 points along with 5 assists.
Denver East's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Overland, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Everything came up roses for Denver East against Overland in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 84-56 win. Will Denver East repeat their success, or does Overland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
