Basketball Game Preview: Cozad Haymakers vs. Holdrege Dusters + How To Watch

Cozad and Holdrege are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Haymakers just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Dusters at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Holdrege will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Cozad extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Haymakers claimed a resounding 71-41 win over Hershey. The Haymakers pushed the score to 54-29 by the end of the third, a deficit the Panthers had little chance of recovering from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cozad to victory, but perhaps none more so than Olliver Davis, who almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds. Those nine boards gave Davis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Strauss, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Cozad smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Holdrege played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 97-57 loss at the hands of Doniphan-Trumbull. The Dusters were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-25.

Holdrege's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-2. As for Cozad, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Cozad couldn't quite get it done against Holdrege in their previous meeting back in February as they fell 82-73. Thankfully for the Haymakers, Garret Johnson (who went 10-for-16 to rack up 32 points in addition to six assists and five boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
