Baseball Recap: Harrison Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Harrison entered their tilt with McCutcheon on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Mavericks a 2-0 shutout. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Raiders have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Not much got past Chase Gothrup, who gave up just three hits to keep McCutcheon off the board. Gothrup has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Nolan Hodnett was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Harrison's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for McCutcheon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harrison will head out to square off against North Montgomery at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chargin' Chargers have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season. As for McCutcheon, they are taking a road trip to challenge Kankakee Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
