Volleyball Recap: Aquinas Blugolds vs. Onalaska Hilltoppers

If Aquinas was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Tomah last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Blugolds fell just short of the Onalaska Hilltoppers by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hilltoppers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in August.

Aquinas actually scored more points across those five sets (108-98), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-23, 13-25, 20-25, 15-13.

Sammy Davis paced Aquinas' offense, picking up 24 kills. Davis got some help from Adelaide Bezemek and her 45 assists. Norah Poellinger controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Onalaska found their leader in freshman Isabella Eckstein, who had 23 assists and 12 digs. Those 12 digs set a new season-high mark for Eckstein. The team also got some help courtesy of Mckenzie Bauer, who had 18 digs and four assists.
