Soccer Game Preview: Monroe Catholic vs. Grace Christian

The Monroe Catholic Rams will square off against the Grace Christian Grizzlies at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Monroe Catholic is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Redington, who was ranked 21st at the time (Monroe Catholic was ranked 13th). The Rams put the hurt on the Huskies with a sharp 7-4 victory on Saturday. It was an even better day for Mylee Nafpliotis as she scored four goals for her team.

Meanwhile, Grace Christian and Kodiak faced off in a Battle of the Bears on Saturday. The Grizzlies' defense stepped up to hand the Bears a 4-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for Grace Christian in their matchups with Kodiak: they've now won eight in a row.

Grace Christian was without their leading scorer, Faith Mondeel, in Saturday's game. With Mondeel sidelined, Ingrid Randall got her first action of the season.

The victory (which was Monroe Catholic's fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 38 goals over those four contests. As for Grace Christian, the victory got them back to even at 7-7-2.
