Baseball Recap: Canyon Gets the Win

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canyon). They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Villa Park Spartans 9-8. The Comanches have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Spartans on Thursday, too.

Kemuel Zhang looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Player #5, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI. Blake Semanie also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Canyon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.

The win got Canyon back to even at 2-2. As for Villa Park, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1-1.

Coming up, Canyon will take on Woodcrest Christian in a tournament on Friday. As for Villa Park, they will be taking part in a tournament against Santiago at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Sharks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
