Basketball Recap: Enka Takes a Loss

Enka was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were dealt a 68-39 loss at the hands of the Erwin Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Jets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while the Warriors are ranked 78th).

It was another big night for Teasia Hines, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 17 rebounds for Erwin. That's the most boards Hines has posted since back in January of 2024. Syria Johnson was another key player, putting up eight points along with nine steals and six assists.

Enka's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Erwin, they pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Enka wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 41-27 loss against A.C. Reynolds on the 28th. As for Erwin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-45 win against Asheville on the 28th.
