Softball Recap: Cliffside Park Triumphs

While Cliffside Park's win against Ridgefield Park wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Red Raiders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Scarlets on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The team relied heavily on Camila Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alessia Valerio, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.

Cliffside Park has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Ridgefield Park, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Coming up, Cliffside Park will host New Milford at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Ridgefield Park, they will venture away from home to face off against Northern Highlands at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
