The Jones Christian Academy Warrior will take on the Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Jones Christian Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 69-63 to Full Life Christian Academy. The loss put an end to the Warrior's undefeated start to the season.

Despite the loss, Jones Christian Academy had strong showings from James Simpson, who shot 63% from the field to rack up 30 points and three steals, and Jhi Smith, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine assists. Simpson is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Victor Randall, who posted 13 points.
Meanwhile, Gulf Pointe Latin got the win against Atmore Christian on Monday by a conclusive 67-45. The Gladiators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 22 points or more this season.
Jones Christian Academy better focus on containing Dean Fillmore and Jacob Scarberry as the pair were huge in Gulf Pointe Latin's win. Fillmore almost dropped a double-double with 29 points and nine rebounds, while Scarberry shot 4-for-6 from long range and dropped a double-double with 21 points and 14 boards. Thanks to that strong game, Fillmore now owns an excellent 48.8% field goal percentage.
Gulf Pointe Latin is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, Jones Christian Academy fell to 2-1.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's contest: Jones Christian Academy has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 36.4% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for Gulf Pointe Latin, though, as they've only made 26% of their three-pointers this season. Given Jones Christian Academy's sizable advantage in that area, the Gladiators will need to find a way to close that gap.
Jones Christian Academy took their win against Gulf Pointe Latin in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 62-39 score. Will the Warrior repeat their success, or do the Gladiators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
