Basketball Recap: Jaylyn Quezada Key Part of Team Effort in Panthers Win

Sierra Grande won the last time they faced Creede and things went their way on Saturday too. The Sierra Grande Panthers walked away with a 39-32 win over the Creede Miners. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Sierra Grande got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaylyn Quezada out in front who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 15 steals. Quezada is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last six games she's played. Yazmin Molina was another key player, putting up six points along with five boards and four blocks.

Despite the loss, Creede still got an impressive performance from Jasmin Laing, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten steals.

Sierra Grande's record now sits at 14-9. As for Creede, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-10.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Sierra Grande Panthers challenge Cheyenne Wells Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Creede, they will face off against Fleming at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
