Baseball Game Preview: Lake Howell Silverhawks vs. Seminole Seminoles

The Lake Howell Silverhawks will face off against the Seminole Seminoles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Howell will be strutting in after a win while Seminole will be coming in after a loss.

Lake Howell took a 14-run defeat the last time they faced off against Bishop Moore, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Lake Howell had just enough and edged out Bishop Moore 8-7 on Thursday. Eight seems to be a good number for the Silverhawks as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Noah Crews looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Isaiah Walkin, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was David Johnson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Seminole was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 8-5 to Lake Howell.

Blake Manley was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Braxton Price made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Brandon Simms was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Lake Howell and bumps their season record up to 5-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Seminole, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Lake Howell beat Seminole 8-5 when the teams last played on Tuesday. Will Lake Howell repeat their success, or does Seminole have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
