Softball Recap: Garfield Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Garfield had lost five games on the road dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 6-7 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Crestview Rebels. The G-Men have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rebels, too.

Juliana Genovese was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Diamond Dyson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kolby Fresch, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Crestview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-7-1 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since April 18, 2024.

On Crestview's side, Lainey Milhoan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Brenna Figley was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Garfield will have a chance to go back-to-back against Crestview: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
