Baseball Recap: Valley Lutheran Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Valley Lutheran, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top against the Nouvel Catholic Central Panthers by a score of 5-1 on Monday. This was a revenge game for the Chargers: when they faced off against the Panthers back in April, they had to take a 9-5 loss.

Trey Flood-Captain spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Valley Lutheran's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Pugh, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Those two hits gave Pugh a new career-high. Another was Tyler Belt-Captain, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

With the win, Valley Lutheran broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-6. As for Nouvel Catholic Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley Lutheran will host Reese at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Nouvel Catholic Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers are facing the Dragons at the right time seeing as the Dragons are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
