Basketball Game Preview: Socastee Braves vs. St. James Sharks

The Socastee Braves will challenge the St. James Sharks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Socastee took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 40-32 victory over Conway. The win was all the more spectacular given the Braves' disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Tigers are ranked 14th).

Meanwhile, St. James posted their closest victory since December 17, 2024 on Friday. They had just enough and edged North Myrtle Beach out 43-40. The win continues a trend for the Sharks in their matchups with the Chiefs: they've now won three in a row.

Socastee's victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for St. James, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.

Socastee came out on top in a nail-biter against St. James in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, sneaking past 41-39. Does Socastee have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. James turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
