Softball Recap: Brawley Has No Trouble Against Holtville

After losing to Holtville the last time they met, Brawley decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Wildcats never let the Vikings get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Tuesday. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Wildcats this season.

Not much got past Daniella Yescas, who gave up just a hit to keep Holtville off the board. Yescas has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Roslyn Rubio, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had over her last five matches. Another player making a difference was Isabella Yescas, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Brawley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-13 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Holtville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.

Brawley will have a chance to go back-to-back against Holtville: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
