After losing to Mercedes the last time they met, Pace decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Pace Vikings greeted the New Year with with a 52-35 victory over the Mercedes Tigers.

Pace is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.1 points per game. As for Mercedes, they dropped their record down to 7-13 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Pace didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-23 loss against Weslaco East on the 7th. Mercedes has also already played their next contest, a 48-38 win against Donna on the 7th.
