Volleyball Recap: Key West Comes Up Short

Key West was the 2-0 winner over Suncoast when they last played one another back in September of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Conchs fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 2-1 on Friday. While the Conchs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Chargers 25-17 in the first set.

Key West started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 25-12, 15-8.

Audrey Smith paced Key West's offense, picking up seven kills. Smith got some help from Molly McKnight and her 14 assists. Finally, Smith was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high six blocks.

Key West's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Suncoast, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Key West has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Palm Beach Central on the 22nd. As for Suncoast, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 loss against Park Vista on the 22nd.
