Baseball Recap: Ohio County Eagles vs. Webster County Trojans

Ohio County extended their losing streak to eight on Monday, dropping their season record down to 5-19 in the process. They came up short against the Webster County Trojans, falling 11-0. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Trojans when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Webster County, the victory snapped their losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 11-12 record. Considering they have won seven matches by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Webster County's part, the result came thanks to Cooper Logan's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks. Logan also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Trojans are 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-10 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jackson Edens, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Gunnar Boone was another key player, going 1-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ohio County will venture away from home to challenge Grayson County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Webster County, they will challenge Trinity at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
