Softball Preview: Hickory Red Tornadoes vs. Foard Tigers
For the second straight game, Hickory will face off against Foard. The Red Tornadoes will be playing at home against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Hickory's hitters haven't had much luck over their past five matches, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Hickory's offense. They lost 12-0 to Foard on Tuesday.
For Foard's part, Karsyn Sigmon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Sigmon has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Livi Queen was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing five bases while going 2-for-3. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Keener, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Foard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Foard now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Hickory, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
