Baseball Game Preview: Burrell Bucs vs. Highlands Golden Rams

The Burrell Bucs will venture away from home to face off against the Highlands Golden Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Burrell and Shady Side Academy, and Shady Side Academy kept the tradition alive. The Bucs fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 2-1 on Monday. The Bucs haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Stephen Hasson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April.

Meanwhile, Highlands fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Greensburg Salem on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Golden Lions by a score of 3-2. The Golden Rams just can't catch a break and have now endured five losses in a row.

Highlands saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake King, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base.

Burrell's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Highlands, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.

Burrell beat Highlands 5-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Bucs repeat their success, or do the Golden Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
