Basketball Recap: West Jefferson's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

West Jefferson had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.3 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Shekinah Christian Flames as they made off with a 65-42 victory. The Roughriders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.

Shekinah Christian's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Haylee Beachy, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 15 points and six steals. Beachy is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nava Showalter, who went 5 of 8 en route to 10 points.

West Jefferson pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.2 points over those games. As for Shekinah Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.

West Jefferson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Shekinah Christian, they will face off against Northside Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
