Baseball Recap: North Raleigh Christian Academy's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

North Raleigh Christian Academy dropped their record down to 15-6 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home. They fell 11-6 to the Grace Christian Crusaders. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Knights, who until this matchup were averaging 3.43 runs allowed.

David Mertz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jackson Rowlands, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for Grace Christian, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games.

On Grace Christian's side, Connor Howard was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI Howard has posted since back in March. Jimmy Alfonsin was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

North Raleigh Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-3 victory against Durham Academy on the 2nd. As for Grace Christian, they have also already played their next game, a 4-1 win against C.B. Aycock on the 2nd.
