On Friday, the Spanish Springs Cougars faced the Pyramid Lake Lakers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Spanish Springs took down Pyramid Lake 47-31. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, as Spanish Springs did.
Spanish Springs got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mackenzie Chase out in front who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Aaliyah Vance was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Pyramid Lake lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kaitlin Mandell. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with eight rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Shalaya Barraza, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Spanish Springs now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Pyramid Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
