The Mount Everett Regional Eagles will head out to face off against the McCann Tech Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Everett Regional is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Friday. Mount Everett Regional was the clear victor by a 7-1 margin over Franklin County Tech. Mount Everett Regional hasn't had any issues with Franklin County Tech recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Matt Lowe made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Mount Everett Regional's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Lowe was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Kreis, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Trevor Leonard, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McCann Tech). They blew past Mahar Regional 15-1 on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Hornets with their most commanding win of the season.
Like Mount Everett Regional, McCann Tech also got a great game from a two-way player: Zach Howland. He tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Howland was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, McCann Tech let Brody Smith and Lukas Rylander run wild. Smith went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one double, while Rylander got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Rylander continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Brodie Hayden also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
McCann Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
McCann Tech pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Everett Regional, their record is now 7-4.
McCann Tech's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mount Everett Regional hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. It's a different story for McCann Tech, though, as they've only averaged .230. Will they be able to contain Mount Everett Regional's hitters?
Mount Everett Regional took their victory against McCann Tech when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 17-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
