Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Makayla Evans and Diana Kelley Lead Rivercrest to Victory

Rivercrest hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They came out on top against the Maud Cardinals by a score of 38-30 on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Rebels also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Leading Rivercrest to victory were Diana Kelley and Makayla Evans. Kelley posted eight points and three steals, while Evans had nine points. Kelley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played.

Despite the loss, Maud saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mallorie Bishop put up 19 points. That was a full 63.3% of Maud's points, marking the 18th time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Rivercrest has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-18 record this season. As for Maud, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-9.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Clarksville the next time they take the court. Rivercrest will head out to face Clarksville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Maud will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
