The Classical Academy Titans will face off against the Coronado Cougars at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Classical Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Coronado's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
The Classical Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Sand Creek on Thursday. They fell just short of the Scorpions by a score of 3-2. The contest marked the Titans' lowest-scoring match so far this season.
Zach Mediavilla was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Mediavilla wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was CJ Mullen, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Mullen is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Coronado duked it out with Harrison on Thursday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Panthers. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Like The Classical Academy, Coronado also got a great game from a two-way player: Tysen Noll. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave Noll a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Turner Whitney was incredible, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Xavier Rodriguez, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Coronado kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Coronado's victory bumped their record up to 4-9. As for The Classical Academy, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-2.
Everything went The Classical Academy's way against Coronado in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, as The Classical Academy made off with a 15-0 win. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
