Basketball Recap: Jay County Comes Up Short

Jay County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt a 75-45 loss at the hands of the Bluffton Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while the Tigers are ranked 56th).

When it comes to explaining why Jay County lost, don't look at Hallie Schwieterman. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 32 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Schwieterman's seventh in a row with at least ten points.

Bluffton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Konley Ault led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 assists. The dominant performance gave Ault a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Stout, who posted 23 points.

Jay County's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Bluffton, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2.

Jay County has already played their next matchup, a 54-14 win against South Adams on the 14th. As for Bluffton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 67-52 victory against Woodlan on the 14th.
