Vincennes Lincoln is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Evansville North is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Alices will host the Huskies at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vincennes Lincoln is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Vincennes Lincoln had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt North Daviess on Friday. The Alices blew past the Cougars 11-2. The Alices haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Vincennes Lincoln got a great performance from Justice Johnson as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Johnson has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Donta Henderson and Daniel Henderson did most of the damage at the plate: Donta went 2-for-3 with four RBI, while Daniel went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four RBI gave Donta a new career-high. Gavin Kelso was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Evansville North beat Boonville 5-1 on Monday.
Jackson Ficklin looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Evansville North let Daniel Cranick and Mason Renfro run wild. Cranick went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI, while Renfro went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Gideon Rice, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Evansville North is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.1 runs over those games. As for Vincennes Lincoln, their victory bumped their record up to 13-3.
Evansville North's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Vincennes Lincoln hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .357. It's a different story for Evansville North, though, as they've only averaged .241. Will they be able to contain Vincennes Lincoln's hitters?
Vincennes Lincoln came out on top in a nail-biter against Evansville North in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Alices repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
