Soccer Game Preview: Coronado vs. Patrick Henry

The Coronado Islanders will challenge the Patrick Henry Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Coronado was able to grind out a solid victory over Madison, taking the game 3-1. That's two games straight that the Islanders have won by exactly two goals.

Meanwhile, Patrick Henry had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 4-1 win. Considering the Patriots have won five matchups by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Patrick Henry's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those five contests. As for Coronado, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3-1 record this season.

Coronado took their win against Patrick Henry when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 4-1. Will Coronado repeat their success, or does Patrick Henry have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
