Softball Game Preview: Grace Christian vs. West Carter Comets

Grace Christian will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the West Carter Comets at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Grace Christian is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game dating back to last season last Saturday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Greater Beckley Christian.

Meanwhile, West Carter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell just short of Tolsia by a score of 4-3.

Alyssa Willis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up nine Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, West Carter saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gracie Nolen, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
