Basketball Recap: Synaa Waters' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fitch over Norwich Free Academy

Fitch lost against Norwich Free Academy back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Fitch Falcons took a 41-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Norwich Free Academy Wildcats. The game marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Synaa Waters, who posted 13 points. That was a full 43.3% of Fitch's points, marking the fourth time in a row Waters has had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ada Ellis, who scored eight points and seven boards.

Norwich Free Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooke Stringer, who earned 13 points and five assists. The dominant performance gave Stringer a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Emily Orcutt, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Fitch has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season. The victory (which was Norwich Free Academy's fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-6.

Fitch didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 47-33 win against Hillhouse on the 1st. As for Norwich Free Academy, they have also already played their next game, a 37-27 loss against Bacon Academy on the 25th.
