Basketball Recap: Incarnate Word Academy Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Incarnate Word Academy can now relate to. They had to suffer through a 66-27 loss at the hands of the St. Francis Episcopal Wolves. Having soared to a lofty 57 points in the game before, the Angels couldn't push the score so high this time.

When it comes to explaining why Incarnate Word Academy lost on Tuesday, don't look at Matthew Cory. Despite the final result, he went 6-for-14 to rack up 12 points in addition to seven assists and four steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Francis Episcopal to victory, but perhaps none more so than Christian Hodge, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds. Hodge has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Nigel Walls, who went 5-for-7 en route to 13 points.

Incarnate Word Academy's loss dropped their record down to 21-15. As for St. Francis Episcopal, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-8 record this season.

Incarnate Word Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Francis Episcopal, they will challenge Holy Cross at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Francis Episcopal knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 20 games -- so hopefully Holy Cross likes a good challenge.
