Preview: Maynard vs. Clinton
If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Maynard. They will square off against Clinton at 7:00 PM on Friday. The teams both seek to continue their momentum from their previous wins.
Maynard brought a six-game winning streak into their match against Littleton last Friday; they left with a seven-game streak. Maynard narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Littleton 22-20. Senior Tommy Smith was the offensive standout of the match for Maynard, as he picked up 122 yards on the ground and accumulated 130 passing yards. That makes it seven straight good games in a row from Smith.
Meanwhile, after having lost a blowout in their contest two weeks ago against Littleton, Clinton were happy to find some success last Friday. Clinton took down St. Peter-Marian 33-14. The win was some much needed relief for Clinton as it spelled the end of their three-game losing streak.
The last time the two teams met, Maynard were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap the last time the two teams met, as they fell 14-20 to Clinton. Maybe Maynard will have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back on MaxPreps for all the details.
