Baseball Game Preview: Arvada West Wildcats vs. Bear Creek Bears

The Arvada West Wildcats will face off against the Bear Creek Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

While Arvada West's win against Chatfield wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats skirted past the Chargers 4-2. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Kolten DeGroot looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Arvada West's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Luke Alonso, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Bear Creek hadn't done well against Ralston Valley recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Bears sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Mustangs. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bears as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Arvada West pushed their record up to 9-2-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch. As for Bear Creek, their win bumped their record up to 3-8.

Bear Creek's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Arvada West has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .443. It's a different story for Bear Creek, though, as they've only averaged .344. Will they be able to contain Arvada West's hitters?

Arvada West came out on top in a nail-biter against Bear Creek when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
