Basketball Recap: Woodville Eagles vs. Evadale Rebels

Woodville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt an 85-35 loss at the hands of the Evadale Rebels. The Eagles lost against the Rebels in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 59-55 score last time.

Evadale had a senior duo take command as Warren Brewer went 10 for 21 on his way to 24 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals and Talon Bennett went 9 for 14 on his way to 22 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bennett has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brett Buckner, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 14 points and seven rebounds.

Woodville's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Evadale, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodville will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Central Heights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Woodville is facing Central Heights at the right time seeing as Central Heights is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Evadale, they will square off against Brookeland at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Brookeland's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.
