Soccer Recap: State College's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

State College had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand the DuBois Beavers a 2-0 shutout. The win was all the more spectacular given State College's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania soccer rankings (they are ranked 86th, while DuBois are ranked seventh).

State College's victory bumped their record up to 5-1-2. As for DuBois, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. State College will square off against Lewisburg at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. State College will need to watch out since Lewisburg have now posted at least four goals in their last four contests. As for DuBois, they are taking a road trip to challenge Bradford at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. DuBois will be up against Bradford's rather soft defense (which has allowed 6.4 goals per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
