Basketball Recap: Legacy Christian Academy Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

It was a proper cat-fight when Legacy Christian Academy faced off against Calvary Baptist on Thursday. The Legacy Christian Academy Lions walked away with a 45-36 victory over the Calvary Baptist Cougars. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while the Cougars are ranked 491st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Calvary Baptist lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Akol Machol, who posted eight points and 11 rebounds. Martin Malual was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

Legacy Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Calvary Baptist, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.

Legacy Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 71-52 victory against Beckman on the 27th. As for Calvary Baptist, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 35-31 win against Bellflower on the 27th.
