Softball Recap: Morgantown's Loss Ends Nine-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Morgantown dropped their record down to 14-9 on Saturday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 7-0 to the Washington Patriots. The Mohigans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Patriots earlier this season, when they won 4-3.

Morgantown saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was ANNE ROBINSON, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Washington, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

On Washington's side, Zoe Kesterson was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Kesterson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabby Bibb, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Carly Constantino was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morgantown will venture away from home to challenge Lewis County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Minutemen will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Mohigans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Washington, they are taking a road trip to take on Martinsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
