Softball Recap: Union Area Scotties vs. Jefferson-Morgan Rockets
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Union Area had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Jefferson-Morgan Rockets as they made off with an 11-2 victory. Union Area might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won 17 games by six runs or more this season.
Mia Preuhs made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Preuhs has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive pitching appearances. Preuhs was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Bella Cameron was incredible, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI. Olivia Williams was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
The win (which was Union Area's 14th in a row) raised their record to 19-1. As for Jefferson-Morgan, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
