Baseball Recap: Braden River Finds Playoff Glory Versus Manatee

It's playoff time, and Braden River had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Manatee Hurricanes 9-3 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Hurricanes: they've now won six in a row.

Jakob Adkins looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Camden Pope, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Brayden Sands was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

Braden River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Braden River pushed their record up to 18-10 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Manatee, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-13.

Coming up, Braden River will challenge Fort Myers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Pirates 3.9, the Green Wave 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Manatee does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
