Volleyball Recap: Deuel Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Deuel challenged Groton on Thursday. The Cardinals came up short against the Tigers, falling 3-0. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Tigers when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The final score came out to 25-11, 25-12, 25-7.

Groton was led to victory by Jerica Locke and McKenna Tietz. Locke had nine digs and four assists, while Tietz had five digs and two assists. That's the most assists Locke has posted since back in September. Talli Wright also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Deuel's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Groton, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

Deuel will host Florence/Henry at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Groton, they have already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Sisseton on the 18th.
