Allie Carroll commands the offense for a Patriots win

Recap: Lewisburg Patriots vs. DeSoto Central Jaguars

The Lewisburg Patriots had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They snuck past DeSoto Central with a 52-48 win. Given Lewisburg's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while DeSoto Central is ranked 129th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lewisburg to victory, but perhaps none more so than Allie Carroll, who scored nine points along with 16 rebounds and three steals. Carroll has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Alicia Kautzky, who scored 11 points along with three steals.

Lewisburg is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for DeSoto Central, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Lewisburg won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Bayou Academy at 3:00 p.m. on January 6th. As for DeSoto Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Oxford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
