Soccer Game Preview: Cordova vs. River City

The Cordova Lancers will head out on the road to challenge the River City Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cordova's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Cordova took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Wood a 1-0 shutout. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Lancers were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, River City managed to keep up with Grant until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. River City lost 3-0 to Grant. The result was nothing new for the Raiders as the squad has yet to pick up a win this season.

Cordova's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-6-1. As for River City, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3-3.

Cordova skirted past River City 2-1 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Does Cordova have another victory up their sleeve, or will River City turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
