Softball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends East Haven's Winning Streak

East Haven dropped their record down to 4-2 on Saturday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Fitch Falcons, falling 11-0. The match marked the first time this year in which the Yellowjackets were not able to get on the board.

As for Fitch, the win got them back to even at 3-3. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

For Fitch's part, the result came thanks to Hailey Merrill's shutout, as she gave up just seven hits.

On the hitting side, Katie MacPherson was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jaedyn Steffens, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.

Looking ahead, East Haven will take on Branford at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Fitch, they will challenge Westerly at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Falcons' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
