Recap: Arapahoe Warriors vs. Cherry Creek Bruins
On Friday, The Arapahoe Warriors faced the Cherry Creek Bruins in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Arapahoe fell 24-14 to Cherry Creek. Arapahoe's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Arapahoe's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Andrew Smart, who picked up 111 receiving yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Eckhardt, who picked up 86 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Leading Cherry Creek to victory were Brady Vodicka and Jordan Herron. Vodicka rushed for 41 yards and a touchdown, while Herron rushed for 203 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Herron was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards. Cherry Creek also got help from Max Lovett who showed off his sure hands for 94 receiving yards.
Arapahoe's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Cherry Creek, their win was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 10-0.
Arapahoe will take on Eaglecrest at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cherry Creek, they will head out on the road to face off against Grandview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
