Basketball Recap: Leadership Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Leadership won against Bay Tech on Wednesday with 61 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Leadership narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Tennyson Lancers 61-58. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Leadership has posted since December 15, 2023.

Several Lancers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Matthew Lorje, who went 7 of 16 en route to 17 points along with six boards and three steals. Lorje is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lance Clunie, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 21 points.

Leadership pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points per game. As for Tennyson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Coincidentally, Leadership and Tennyson will both be playing Millennium the next time they take the court. Tennyson will head out to face Millennium at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, while Leadership will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
