Baseball Game Preview: Thornton Fractional South Red Wolves vs. Blue Island Eisenhower Cardinals

The Thornton Fractional South Red Wolves will venture away from home to take on the Blue Island Eisenhower Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Blue Island Eisenhower took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Thornton Fractional South, who comes in off a win.

Thornton Fractional South gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Hillcrest with a sharp 13-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Wolves.

Thornton Fractional South let Blake Sims and Juan Lozano run wild. Sims went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Lozano went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those two hits gave Sims a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Marnell, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Thornton Fractional South kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Blue Island Eisenhower was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They fell 4-1 to Bremen. That's two games in a row now that the Cardinals have lost by exactly three runs.

Blue Island Eisenhower saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alejandro Correa, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Blue Island Eisenhower's defeat dropped their record down to 8-18. As for Thornton Fractional South, their record now sits at 11-18-1.

Thornton Fractional South took their victory against Blue Island Eisenhower in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
